What is Distributed Science?

Distributed Science is a clearinghouse for researchers working with "virtual organizations." As the work of science and engineering becomes more complex, distributed work and long-distance communication among collaborators becomes the norm. To be successful, distributed teams depend upon their members making significant investments of time and maintaining collaborative structures in order to coordinate their activities. This site is an effort to support that work and harness the full potential of collaborative science.

The guides on our site provide suggestions and real-world advice on planning, running, and evaluating a distributed science project. These guides are informed by best practices of successful researchers and instructions from funding agencies.
